FINIS MUSICAE is the robotic exo orchestra co-founded by Horizon Lab director Sage Morei.
Using biosignals and industrial mechatronics, FINIS MUSICAE creates machine symphonies from biological data streams.

_ PREVIZ & CAPTURE
Created at the FINIS MUSICAE HQ, a detailed previz was created in CINEMA 4D + OCTANE as a style guide to inform the final production: Robotic instruments informed by fetal biosignals in a futuro-victorian setting.
_ PROCESS
For MITOCHONDRIAL EVE, a bespoke biosignal pipeline was created to accurately capture the fetal life’s data, utilizing the pregnant pilot’s EMG output in a parallel loop to gate parametric noise and extract a clean response. The resulting data was then used to inform the player robots’ performance.
From the ideation and creation of bespoke mechatronics for the Robotic Viola and Prosthetic Synthesizer, the manufacturing of holographic displays, the integration of machine-learning enhanced software pipelines and finally the capturing of the original score, MITOCHONDRIAL EVE is a cross-craft culmination of minds.

Created in conjunction with ARTE TV to educate on the creative processes learning machine learning enhanced workflows, a short film documenting the process of creation has been created by Pierre Zandrowicz and broadcast on the critically acclaimed national Franco-German TV station ARTE TV.
